Kayaking in Sattal: Embracing the Adventure on Uttarakhand’s Aquatic Gem
Okay! To be honest, It was my first time kayaking and I had no idea what it would be. I have seen kayaking in movies and travel videos but kayaking in Sattal was an incredible experience for me. Paddling the kayak through the silent water, surrounded by the melodious ambience filled with fresh air, the experience was therapeutic, as if I had been missing this from my life. Before I could say goodbye to 2022, I welcomed this water activity and ensured that I treasure it in my 2022’s safe. Sound’s filmy, isn’t it?
Well, it was my one night in Nainital where I spent that night somewhere in a hotel there. And day one, I was roaming around exploring the taals of this area and witnessing the beauty of Uttrakhand. I haven’t been to Uttrakhand that much and this was only my third trip. Before this, I had been to Rishikesh and Dehradun only.
It was evening time when I reached this place with this lake in Sattal. After having filter coffee at a nearby local dhaba, I asked the kayak guy for charges and after some negotiation, I got some good deal for a good amount of time. He explained to me how to row and how to handle, and I was good to go in the next five minutes. Getting into this kayak was a thrilling experience considering it was my first time. And you tend to remember such things when you do them for the first time.
I had the lake to myself for the next hour or so. No one was around. Sometimes, I get lucky! I played some music and started kayaking in the lake. However, after a while, another kayak got into the water. But I was already at the peak of my happiness. That didn’t bother me at all. When I reached the middle of the lake, I stopped rowing and just kept staring at the pristine beauty. I thanked nature for blessing me this chance of exploring it to this close. If you ever want to explore Satta through kayaking, the best time is either the early morning hours or the evening hours.
