During my stay at Sarkidhar, one of the best things that I loved was the sunset. The homestay where I was staying was located just in front of the lake viewpoint. Yes! There was a lake in front of the homestay, which was dried. However, the homestay owner told me that the lake gets water during the monsoon season when it rains. During the evening, the sky turns into a canvas. I saw some of the best sunsets from the lake view point.

There are more lakes around the village. The most famous one is Kunt Bhayog Lake, where I used to trek almost every morning to sit there and relax for a while. I don’t remember the names of some other lakes. Kunt Bhayog lake is a sacred lake for the village.
The homestay owner also told me that the lake transforms itself into a beautiful, exotic water body when it gets full water, and the views are just breathtaking. I am sure there must be something worth seeing; however, I can’t say without experiencing anything that way!

The Most Vibrant Silhouette of Sunsets from Lake View Point
I stayed in Sarkidhar village for almost a week. And all my evenings were spent sitting at the lake view point, staring at the sunsets for a long time. The homestay owner had put a small bench where one could sit and enjoy the evening. I would make Maggi noodles, sit there and relish with the breathtaking sunset views at the lake point. Some stray dogs would also join me in this experience.

I am a huge sunset lover. A few years ago, I had a camera that had 35X optical zoom, and I could capture hundreds of sunset photos. I miss that camera whenever I see the sunset like that. I had known that the sunsets in the mountains are magnificent and these are worth witnessing. I was once in Kasauli, and there too, the sunset view point is quite famous. However, I could reach the sunset view point, but even from the Christ Church, the sunset was pretty spectacular.

I hiked uphill to the sunset view point of Raila when I was there for three days in September. The hike was quite tiring and exhausting; however, the results were rewarding. When I reached the top sunset view point, I realized all the efforts that I had put in hiking to reach here were not in vain. The homestay person kept on pushing me every time I stopped to catch my breath. The top sunset view point was more than incredible!

Though I didn’t like Sarkidhar village that much. Maybe I was at the wrong time; April wasn’t the month to visit the village. Maybe because I have mostly visited the higher altitude parts of Himachal Pradesh and this village didn’t have that sort of vibes. Or there could be other reasons as well. However, those evening hours were the best things about my stay at Sarkidhar. Not sure if I am going back there again, but I will remember this village for its breathtaking sunsets.
