Jaipur is full of places to visit and explore. This place has so many things stored in the box that you will be mesmerized by the beauty and wonderfulness the place has to offer you. And among such places is the famous Albert Hall Museum, or simply Albert Hall. This place takes shower in yellow light at night. Albert Hall Museum Jaipur was the first in my list to start my journey of Jaipur. After discussing a lot with my cousins, I finally decided to visit this place considering the distance and location from the place I was staying.
History of Albert Hall Museum Jaipur
Albert Hall Museum is the oldest museum of the state. This museum is the state museum of Rajasthan. As history, this place is designed by Colonel Sir Swinton Jacob in 1876. The main purpose of this building was to greet King Edward VII, the Prince of Wales during his visit to India. The place was opened for the public after 10 years. The galleries on the ground floor have to remodeled and reconstructed during 1969. The design is said to be based on the Albert Museum of London. If you look at the architecture of the building, it will reflect the Indo – Saracenic architecture style.
The museum is named in the honor of Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert of Britain. It is also that the Maharaja of Jaipur also got the entire city painted in pink for welcoming the prince and the same is continued to date. Prince Albert laid the foundation stone of the building and the ceremony was held on Feb 6, 1876. Later on, after 10 years during the reign of Madho Singh II, this place was made open for the public a museum instead of a government building.

Albert Hall is easily accessible from all major locations and is connected by both public and private transport systems through the main road of the city. The museum is located in Ram Niwas Bagh. The nearest bus stop is Ajmeri Gate and from Ajmeri Gate, the museum is within walking distance only.
Time to visit Albert Hall
The place remains open all day. The timing of the place is 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. One can visit the place in a couple of hours. There is an entrance fee of Rs 150.
Highlights – What to see in Albert Hall Museum?
The design of the building itself is mesmerizing. The building is completely royal and is a fine example of Indo – Saracen architectural style. Once you buy the ticket and enter the main compound, you will walk through the main entrance to an open place where you will get to enjoy a musical puppet show. You will get to see a lot of things which belonged to ancient times during the kings. You will get to see beautiful and stunning craftwork items, woodwork, daily use items such as kitchen wares, decoration items, potteries, toys, carpets, Japanese craft items, etc. You can also see Persian Golden carpet at this place also there is an underground exhibition place where Egyptian Mummy is placed but any kind of photography is prohibited here.
The galleries on the ground floor will take you through the culture, lifestyle of the royal people of Rajasthan. At the display there, you can see several types of outfits and jewelry of ancient Rajasthan. At one gallery, you will get to see the puppets and Phad paintings. At one gallery, you will get to see the old currencies of kings, arms and weapons, old idols of Buddha, and others.
Things to Remember before going to Albert Hall Museum
Shooting with a camera isn’t allowed inside the hall; however, you can shoot with the mobile phone camera. At the Egyptian gallery, you aren’t even allowed to do any sort of shooting/photography by any camera, strictly prohibited. The security people may check your devices if found so.
